Baby Kayley is here.............

A bit out of date order, but so exciting, that Sam's little friend to be Kayley Jane Thomas arrived on Saturday 15th December a staggering 4 weeks early!!!!

To say that Rebecca and Gavin were shocked was an understatement, but they are so pleased she is here!

We are so pleased she finally has a name a week or so later!

Sam and I toddled off to visit the new arrival and check on the new Mummy :) a few days after the event and I even managed to get a photo of them together. I'm sure this will be the cause of much excitement as they get older!

I am so excited for Sam that she will have such close friends of similar ages between Alexandria and Kayley :) What a lucky girl indeed!

So here is the first official photo of Samantha & Kayley together :)

Now that I have finally updated this blog, I am going to wake up a very tired hubby and get ready for a day of shopping :) Pumpkin Patch here I come!

Santa has come and gone....

We have officially survived our first Christmas as parents. Samantha certainly seemed to enjoy herself and it was lovely to see her spoilt rotten by our family.

We have adopted the 3 present rule. She gets 3 presents from us and they fall into 3 seperate categories. 1. Something to wear, 2. Something to read and 3. Something to play with. This hopefully will enable us to get her quality rather than quantity and cover all bases at the same time :)

So for Christmas she got a pretty dress, a bubble machine, a gum ball machine and a leap pad. This more than covers the 3!

She had a fantastic time opening all her presents and had an even better time playing with her cousins on Christmas day.

There is just something so nice about her having such a big family of cousins to play with. She gets such a kick out of them, and they just adore her!

So here is the dress ......

And the first present being opened.....

Mum & Dad were happy when the day was over, as it was exhausting! But man, it is true what they say about Christmas being more special with a baby.

What a wonderful day :) Now I can start saving for next year........:(

Forgive me.....:(

It has been such a long time since I posted in here. Completely my fault, just feeling a bit groundhogged recently. (For those of you wondering what that is it is when you feel like you are living the same day, over and over and over and over.................................)

So we have officially completed the dolphin dive at swimming now. Sam is a star as usual and takes it all in her stride :) Ray came to swimming at the last lesson before christmas and got to watch her doing her thing. He was most impressed. Proves that it really is something that needs to be seen to be believed! So here you go. No underwater shots unfortunatley as Daddy wasn't fast enough...

The incredible non sleeping baby....

Well as the title of this post suggests, we have had a challenging day here in the Roycroft household!!!

Samantha decided that no morning sleep was required this morning and lay in her cot rolling around and squealing at her toys. I finally got her up after more than 40 minutes because we had to leave for swimming. She did have a small nap in the car - but that is it!

I thought she might be a little monster at swimming because of lack of sleep, but nope. Perfect happy Sam as usual, if a little on the quiet side.

She did really well at swimming today, went under water more times than I could count! Now I am wondering when the whole dolphin dive (which is the next step) needs to happen. Supposively next week, but I'm not sure about that one yet!

Then my perfect angel was dragged around the supermarket with no complaints at all, another small nap on the way home.

So here I am thinking "she will definitley have a big sleep after she has lunch"! How wrong was I! This child is very strong willed.

Finally at 2.30pm after a battle of the wills she fell asleep, and is still in bed now! Halelujah! Whats the bet she doesn't sleep tonight! Argghh, babies...who'd have em!

On a more exciting note, we got our First Impressions hand and foot sculpture back today. It's so beautiful. Tanya did such a fantastic job of it! I have taken a photo of it to add on here but I doubt it will do it the justice it deserves!

ARGGGHHHHH!!!!!

So I just spent the last 10 minutes thinking up a witty, interesting entry only to lose it when i tried to add a photo!

I hope no one expects this one to be entertaining now!

So anyway, we had Samantha's 7 month Plunket visit (ah jees, I just had the cat place a strategic claw in my tender under arm area - what is with that)....*boots cat off chair*... now where was I. So yes, Plunket.....we saw the Karitane nurse. These visits really are a bit redundant in my opinion. They are really more about a weight/height comparison for me. We really don't learn anything, and I can't say I find them overly helpful even as a first time Mum.

I always mean to take a list of questions I have been saving up, I finally did, but before I could get to them (after hearing all about the nurses new granddaughter) the appointment was up and I was being hustled out the door.

Anyway, I suppose I should just be thankful that for once we weren't being hassled about Sam not fitting into the Plunket charts model for a perfect child, even though she has basically fallen off it for weight and is the very bottom for height!

And I find it a little pathetic that I feel grateful for the cutsie stickers she puts in Sam's book.

What happened to supporting new Mums in this country! Not all of us have the support system of Mums and family to help out with raising children!

Anyway, that is quite enough ranting from me this morning. Sam is bound to be awake soon and I have washing (when don't I) etc that needs to be done before she wakes up.

So, the new updated stats:

Height: 62.5cm

Weight: 6.68kgs

I don't think she will be growing out the 3-6mth clothing anytime soon:)

So as a tribute to my darling daughters first official day as a 7 month old, here is the last photo taken of her as a 6 month old!

The first day

So this is my first official post on my new blog. Guess I should try and make it a good one.
Today is a most monumental day!
Yes today is my darling Samantha's 7 month Birthday. While not officially recognised by society, it is a big day for a first time Mum, and I suddenly realised that I am not trying hard enough to document Samantha's firsts.
So this is a place to do that, and let our wonderful family and friends stay in the loop at the same time.

So a quick sum up.

Samantha Rosalie Roycroft

Born 27th April 2007
Weight: 3.120 kgs
Height: 49.5cm

First smiled: 2 weeks old (people say this was wind but not my clever daughter - it was an official smile)

First sat up: 4 months - what a star :)

First tooth: 6 months (to be exact 1st November 2007)
Second tooth: 6 months 6 days (7th November 2007)

We are now nearly at the process of a proper crawl so this can be added when we need it :)

Anyway, that's enough for a start. I will update later after our Plunket visit.
